Conditions and Procedures

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
Ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) monitoring involves measuring blood pressure (BP) at regular periods over a 24 hour period while you undergo normal daily activities, including sleep. Patients should continue with normal daily activities, preferably including a work day rather than a rest day.

Chest Pain
Chest pain may be caused by poor blood flow to the heart muscle leading to angina or by a sudden blockage in the coronary arteries resulting in a heart attack. Other possible causes of chest pain can include indigestion, chest muscle strain and inflammation in the rib joints near the sternum (costochondritis).

CT Coronary Angiography
Computed Tomography (CT) Coronary Angiography is a non-invasive scan of the coronary arteries which supply blood to the heart. The coronary arteries and heart chambers are visualised through the injection of a contrast medium during the scan.

Coronary Angiography (Radial Artery access)
Coronary Angiography is an important procedure in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. The Coronary Angiogram procedure uses x-ray imaging iodine based contrast (dye) and catheterization enabling your Cardiologist to see if the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked, and if necessary perform a procedure such as an angioplasty immediately.

Cardioversion
Cardioversion refers to the process of restoring the normal heart rhythm from an abnormal rhythm. Most elective cardioversions are performed to treat atrial fibrillation, a benign heart rhythm disturbance originating in the upper chambers (atria) of the heart.

Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common heart rhythm disturbance encountered by doctors. It can affect adults of any age, but it is more common as people get older. In the over 65 year old age group, it affects about 10% of people.
Coronary Angioplasty
Coronary Angioplasty is the procedure used to treat coronary artery disease (the build up of fatty plaque in the arteries of the heart). During the procedure a catheter with a balloon at the tip is pushed into and inflated inside a narrowed coronary artery.
Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity. Electrodes will be attached to your arms, legs and chest. The electrodes (sticky patches applied with a gel) will connect to some wires to help detect and conduct the electrical currents of your heart. If you have hair on the parts of your body where the electrodes will be placed, the technician may need to shave the hair so that the electrodes stick properly.
